Everything starts in the input row at the bottom of a chat. This page walks it left to right — every control, and the keystrokes behind them.
Click + to attach files: PDF, CSV, TXT, Markdown, or XLSX with any analyst. Image files (JPEG, PNG) appear in the picker only when the selected analyst has document vision — Sam or Deb.
Pasting works too: a screenshot on your clipboard pastes straight into the composer as an attachment. One honest caveat — pasting is not gated, so you can paste an image while Dave is selected; he can’t read it and will say so, and the fix is to switch the analyst and ask again. Details on file handling in Documents & uploads.
The Skills button opens your saved skills and the built-in starters — pick one and its method lands in the composer. What skills are and how to build them: Skills.
The chip showing the current analyst’s name opens the selector. Each row shows the analyst’s credit cost and three small icons: the wrench means live data tools, the eye means document vision (reading PDFs and images directly), the brain means deep reasoning. Dave has no eye — that’s the one to check before an image-heavy session. Who the analysts are: Analysts.
Type / as the first character in an empty composer and a command menu opens. It holds, in order: your own skills, the starter prompts, and five built-ins — /memo (write a document into the side panel), /sheet (build a spreadsheet into the side panel), /skill-creator, /skill-new, and /skills.
Keep typing to filter. Arrow keys move the selection; Enter or Tab applies it; Esc closes the menu. /memo and /sheet are the fastest route to a downloadable document — see Artifacts & exports.
Enter sends. Shift+Enter starts a new line without sending. While the analyst works, the send button becomes a stop button — stopping halts the run server-side and keeps whatever was already written.
Hover over any question you already sent and a pencil appears. Click it, and the text returns to the composer for correcting — Enter sends the fixed question and the analyst answers it afresh; Esc abandons the edit. A copy button sits beside the pencil.
The prompt tiles on the home screen are ready-made asks — click one to run it. The same starters live in the / menu, and they can be customized from the Skills page.
